Whispering Waves
A storytelling performance combining the beauty of Joe’s words with theatrical elements.
A chance encounter with an old fisherman reveals a rich world of stories about the sea.
‘Listen. Can you hear it?
It’s the sound of the sea whispering’
With this greeting the old fisherman opens up a treasure throve of stories whispered on the waves of the wide sea.
Joe combines his years of enthralling audiences with his stories with his theatre experience to create this new show.
‘It is not a play but brings some theatrical elements to deepen the experience for the listener,’ says Joe. ‘On stage is a boat with a simple lighting design, the presence of the old fisherman and the images I weave. I want to challenge my own telling while at the same time deepen the experience for the listeners.’
Boat designed and built by Guy Barriscale.
Lighting design by Niall Cranny.
Costume design, and boat skin, by Joanne Quigley.
